The New Untouchables

I may have shared plenty of information that I got from Scarpa and my other good sources during my career, but I also got plenty from other agents who had the knack.

I’d like to introduce two more pretty talented informant developers from our championship season, Andy Kurins and Kenny Brown. These are men who were involved in their own cases at the time, men with whom I had no special friendship or social relationship. They are a representative sample of the quality of the New Untouchables who whirled around us in the 1980s.

Andris “Andy” Kurins was a street agent for the Gambino squad. He’s now retired and a private eye. As a result of his relationship with my lead attorney, Doug Grover, stemming back to their Mafia fighting days in the 1980s as federal prosecutor and agent, Andy did the investigating for my defense team. Andy was born in Latvia, and coauthored, with retired Agent Joe O’Brien, Boss of Bosses, the biography of Gambino Boss Paul Castellano.
